Wireless Mesh Network technology and its application

By admin Date of issue: Feb 03,2023

Wireless Mesh network is a combination of wireless LAN and mobile AD hoc network, which is a new network architecture. It is one of the key technologies of the next generation wireless network and has been widely concerned and developed rapidly in recent years. To achieve ubiquitous high-speed Internet at low cost, the new generation of wireless

The development of Mesh network is imperative. The new generation of wireless Mesh networks aims to provide high performance and high reliability services. This paper briefly describes the principle, architecture and protocol of wireless Mesh network technology, analyzes its advantages, and looks forward to its future application prospects.

In recent years, wireless networks have developed rapidly, and many new wireless communication technologies and standards have emerged according to different applications and needs, and wireless mesh network is one of the new technologies that attract people's attention. WMN is a new networking technology, namely mesh network. Its topology structure is dynamic, with self-organizing and self-healing functions, that is, it can automatically form the network without human intervention, and each terminal can join or exit freely. In the process of information transmission, the information is continuously forwarded to the destination terminal through the multi-hop method. If this technology is applied to network the technologies for Wireless sensors, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), and worldwide inter-operability for microwave access (WiMAX), Can extend their application range, strengthen their function, thus constitute wireless sensor network, improve the coverage of wireless local area network, set up a MAN. Because of its broad application prospects, people are more and more concerned and applied to life and work.

1.1 Technical Principles

Wireless Mesh networks are low-power multihop systems. They process messages by passing packets from one node to another until they reach their destination. Unlike point-to-point nodes, which filter out all but their own packets, mesh nodes receive packets destined for other nodes and transmit them again. Each wireless Mesh network node can be used as the access terminal, also can have the function of routing and information forwarding, has a high degree of freedom. Wireless Mesh networks operate much like factors

Special network and provide multiple redundant communication paths from source to destination. If a

When the path stops working due to hardware failure or interference, the mesh network automatically changes the message

The routing of packets so that they cross an alternate path.

1.2 Network Structure

WMNs nodes come in two types: routers or clients, where the routers that make up the backbone of the network are less mobile, and they provide the mesh network with other networks (e.g

Internet, cellular network, IEEE802, sensor network) gateway and bridge functions; Clients can be stationary or mobile. Clients can network by themselves or together with routers in the mesh network.

1.3 Main Features

Wireless multi-hop. By reducing the transmission power of wireless nodes, the multi-hop transmission between nodes is realized, which can effectively reduce the energy consumption of nodes, reduce the interference between nodes, improve the spatial reuse degree of wireless channel, and thus improve the network capacity.

Self-organization and self-repair ability. The wireless mesh network is flexible, easy to configure, self-healing, network nodes are distributed in a network, and the network scalability is strong. It can realize multipoint to multipoint wireless communication.

Mobility. Depending on the type of node, minimum mobility is required for routing nodes and flexible mobility for client nodes.

Access mode. It can be connected to the Internet, cellular network, and sensor network.

Energy consumption mode. There is usually no strict limit on the energy consumption of routing nodes, while the client nodes are usually required to implement power-efficient protocols

Compatibility and interoperability. It is compatible with existing wireless networks and has strong interoperability.
